With just a few weeks left in the summer break, 10 is On Your Side with some helpful back-to-school reminders.
Many parents have started the process of stocking up on new clothes and supplies. But as you get ready for class, don't forget a refresher course on safety.
If your child's daily commute starts on a school bus, there are some tips he or she should follow to make sure their ride is safe.
According to the school transportation company First Student Inc., the most important tip is to stay alert.
That means when getting on or off the bus, don't use cellphones, play video games, or use iPods. Also be careful when crossing in front of the bus and make sure to tuck away key chains or any dangling parts of clothing that may get stuck in the door of the bus.
Students should also make sure they know the driver's name and the bus number to ensure they're on the right route.
If you're doing back-to-school shopping on a budget, Consumer Reports suggests holding off on purchasing fall items. A couple of outfits on 'summer sale' should do the trick to start off the school year. Kids can decide what they really want when the fall clothing goes on sale.
Also, make sure to check out online coupons for any deals at
your favorite stores. Lastly, when it comes to shoes, surfing the
web is probably the best way to get the latest shoe which may be
sold out at local stores.
