PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - Be careful when you travel this summer not to reveal too much about yourself on your Facebook and Twitter accounts. Summer scam artists are out there looking for ways to hack into your financial accounts.

In Your Money Monday report 10 On Your Side's David Culver reports on how to safeguard your assets with tips from the Privacy Rights Clearinghose.

When getting ready to go on a trip, be sure not to post publically about your travel plans on social media outlets. Also, clear out your purse or wallet of all cards that you do not need and be aware that if your debit card has a Visa or MasterCard symbol on it, it can be used as a direct link to your bank account.

See David's report in the accompanying video player.
