Expandable insulated lunch boxes made in China are being recalled because the freezer packs pose a poison hazard.
The three-piece lunch box set was sold at Costco Wholesale Clubs, Leon Korol and Cost U Less stores from May 2007 through September 2008.
The freezer gel pack, which contains diethylene glycol and ethylene glycol can possibly leak. California Innovations, Inc. has received two separate reports of a dog chewing and ingesting gel from the gel pack. One dog reportedly died from ingestion of the gel. The other was reported to have received treatment and has recovered.
The company says the thermal carrier and plastic food containers are safe.
If you own thisgel pack, stop using it immediately and contact California Innovations at 800-722-2545 Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST or visit the firm's website at http:// www.californiainnovations.com for more information.
