VIRGINIA BEACH, Va - For Andrea and Lenny London, their waterfront Virginia Beach home holds the future. "It'll be our kids' college, it'll be our retirement," Andrea told WAVY.com.

But that plan almost crashed along with the real estate market, and as a Realtor, Andrea's income wasn't far behind.

After a life threatening illness hit the London family, a loan modification seemed like the only hope to keep their dream home from going to foreclosure, but that process proved to be difficult.

The London's sent a mountain of paperwork to their mortgage company, but the company refused to approve a loan modification application and the reason for the denial remained a mystery.

"Ten On Your Side just kept popping up in my mind. Over and over and over again, they just kept denying us. We actually contacted Congress," said Andrea.

Even though Andrea thought about contacting the 10 On Your Side team, the London's pushed on...alone. Then, with five denied applications and two weeks to foreclosure, Andrea says they were ready to throw in the towel and at that point she made a critical decision.

"I've got to call 10 On Your Side," Andrea told WAVY.com.

10 On Your Side found out the London's mortgage bank was in the process of merging with another larger mortgage company, but its customers had no idea. So very likely, the London's requests to modify really needed to go somewhere else.

10 On Your Side put Andrea in touch with a representative of the new parent company.

"He e-mailed me within 2 hours and said he was in touch with the person that had our file," Andrea tearfully told WAVY.com.

Then, two days before the bank was to take ownership of the London's dream, the call the family had been waiting for finally arrived.

"At 4:41 p.m., we got a call from our mortgage company. She said, you've gotten the loan modification," London said.

A lifetime of work and a family's dream for the future saved.

"You have to be persistent and not hear the word 'no'," said London.
