VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Virginia Beach residents claim they complained about trash piling up at the Dove Landing Apartments North on Justin Court, and no one would do anything about it.

Four dumpsters were overflowing with trash, making the apartment complex look like another Mount Trashmore. "It is rude, crude, and obnoxious. People out here pay rent and this is what we get," said Bill Haney as he looked over the trash.

Brian Layne told WAVY.com, "I got seven-year-old twins, and I don't even let them play out here." Layne said this as he laid another bag of trash on the ground.

Chantel Banks called WAVY.com and said, "We pay for trash disposal, and I'm appalled. I'm disgusted, and something needs to be done."

Turns out Dove Landing North hadn't paid Waste Management since April 15. According to Waste Management, the apartment complex was 60 days late. June 15 was the last time the trash was picked up. WAVY.com confronted the boss, identified as Caroline. "I do not want to be filmed. You need to stay off the North property because you will be trespassing," she said before slamming the door.

We returned to the public sidewalk just off the property and strange things started happening. A maintenance worker manipulated his car to block our camera from videotaping the trash.

The police were called, and then Waste Management showed up to dump the trash. Waste Management said Dove Landing claims they've sent a $2,000 check for past services.

Chantel Banks credits 10 On Your Side for helping her. "Instant results. When I needed them they were on my side when the property was not on my side. 10 on Your Side was there when I needed them," Banks said.

Virginia Beach Code Enforcement also cited the complex today for having the overflowing dumpsters.
