The Internal Revenue Service has issued a new warning.

Do not open a suspicious email claiming to be from the IRS with the subject line: "Tax Refund Number".

The email offers a tax refund of more than $200 dollars, then asks for your credit card information.

Representatives with the IRS Criminal Investigations division told WAVY.com, it's a phishing scam and recipients are only likely to lose money.

Patrick Robertson with IRS Criminal Investigations said the IRS does not initiatie communication with taxpayers through email. "The IRS does not request personal infomation such as pins and passwords or credit card numbers or any type of financial information via the email."
