Salted Pretzels

Recipe from Lindsay Brooks.

Ingredients:

1 tbsp yeast
1 tsp sugar
1 1/2 cups beer, warm
3 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 egg, beaten
coarse sea salt for topping
 
Directions:

In a large bowl, add beer, sugar and yeast. Stir mixture and then let sit for 5 minutes. Next, add flour and salt and knead mixture for 5 minutes. Cover the dough and allow to rest for 30 minutes.
Divided dough into 8 evenly sized balls. Roll each ball into a long thin narrow strip and shape into desired pretzel form. Place the pretzels on a parchment lined baking sheet. Brush the pretzels with an egg wash and sprinkle with coarse sea salt. Bake the pretzels at 425 degrees for 15 minutes.
