W&M makes 'green colleges' list
List includes 286 colleges

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) - The College of William and Mary has been named one of the country's most environmentally friendly colleges in the Princeton Review's "green colleges" list.
The guide includes 286 colleges and was developed by the Princeton Review and the U.S. Green Building Council. It looks at each school's commitment to green buildings, environmental literacy programs, use of renewable energy resources, recycling and other sustainability projects.
William and Mary was chosen for its commitment to sustainability projects by enacting initiatives such as a green fee that goes toward facility improvements. The Williamsburg school also was chosen for offering student grants for research on environmental issues and establishing a green endowment.
