LOUISA, Va. (AP) - Louisa County officials have approved a geotechnical engineering study of the property of the earthquake-damaged Thomas Jefferson Elementary School.
The county said in a release Wednesday that the Board of Supervisors and the School Board have authorized the study of the school, which sustained severe damage during the Aug. 23 earthquake. Its students are currently attending school in temporary classrooms at another site.
The assessment will include a preliminary analysis of potential locations for a replacement building, soil borings, a study of groundwater elevations and a survey of the existing Thomas Jefferson Elementary School boundaries.
