RICHMOND, Va. (WAVY) - Paper manufacturer Mercury Paper is investing more than $21 million to expand its Shenandoah County facility and transform it into its North American headquarters.
Gov. Bob McDonnell said Thursday that the project will create 150 jobs at the Strasburg facility.
Mercury Paper is a subsidiary of Sinar Mas Group, one of the leading pulp and paper companies, based in China. It makes paper towels, and other tissue and paper products.
The governor says the project is the largest Chinese investment in Virginia.
McDonnell approved a $250,000 grant from the Governor's Opportunity Fund to assist with the project.
