James City County and Williamsburg Fire and rescue crews responded to an early morning structure fire at the Old Navy store, located at 5103 Main Street in the New Town area of James City County.
The fire began at almost 6 a.m. Saturday morning. Heavy smoke greeted arriving units from the main level of the building.
Upon entering the structure, crews reported smoke on the first floor with moderate heat conditions; the store's sprinkler system had activated and already extinguished the fire.
Fire officials say an electrical short in a fluorescent light above a rack of clothing caused the blaze.
No one was hurt and lingering hot spots were extinguished in about three hours.
