PETERSBURG, Va. (AP) - The former wife of the Washington, D.C., sniper is due in Virginia to discuss domestic violence at a military base within 30 miles of the prison where he was executed.
Mildred Muhammad is scheduled Wednesday to address military personnel and their families and civilian workers at Fort Lee in Petersburg. She is the guest speaker at a domestic violence awareness event.
John Allen Muhammad was the mastermind of the 2002 sniper attacks that left 10 people dead over three terrifying weeks.
Muhammad was executed in Virginia's death chamber in November 2009. Accomplice Lee Boyd Malvo is serving is a life term for his role in the killlings.
Mildred Muhammad was married to John Allan Muhammad for 12 years in a union that produced three children. The marriage ended in 2001.
