CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - The Dalai Lama is coming to Charlottesville in October.
City officials and representatives for the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader tell media outlets the Dalai Lama will speak on compassionate medical care at the 1,000-seat Paramount Theater on Oct. 11. Later in the day he'll hold a lecture on religion and ethics at the 6,000-capacity nTelos Wireless Pavilion.
The trip was orchestrated by American Heritage Voices, a Charlottesville-area nonprofit focused on American-Indian culture.
The 77-year-old Buddhist monk travels the world bringing his message of peace and understanding to leaders and individuals.
Ticket information for the events has not yet been released.
The Dalai Lama visited the University of Virginia in Charlottesville in 1998 as part of a conference of Nobel Peace Laureates.
