RICHMOND, Va. - Navy Federal Credit Union is planning to expand its member service operation in Frederick County, creating 400 jobs.
Gov. Bob McDonnell's office said Tuesday that the credit union will make a multimillion-dollar investment to construct a new facility on its Winchester campus.
Navy Federal Credit Union is the world's largest credit union with more than 4 million members and more than 220 branch offices. It serves all Department of Defense military and civilian personnel and their families.
Frederick County officials say the credit union's member service operation has expanded to more than 500 employees in six years. With the planned expansion, Navy Federal will be one of the largest employers in the community.
McDonnell approved a $250,000 grant from the Governor's Opportunity Fund to assist with the project.
