ABINGDON, Va. (AP) - An Abingdon woman and her boyfriend are charged with second-degree murder and child abuse in the death of the woman's 2-year-old daughter.
Media outlets report that a Washington County grand jury indicted 24-year-old Sarah Louise Snead and 32-year-old Silas Edward McCracken on Tuesday. They have been held without bond at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Abingdon since they were arrested last November.
Snead's daughter, Madison Snead, died Nov. 15, 2011 at her home.
An autopsy found the girl died from suffocation due to mechanical asphyxia. There also were signs of previous abuse.
