NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — A state highway contractor is facing pollution charges in Norfolk.

Media outlets report that a fire marshal charged TME Enterprises with polluting stormwater and illegally dumping solid waste.

Details of the charges weren't immediately available.

TME Enterprises President Matt Ehrenzeller says the company is trying to get more information on the charges from the city. He says the company also is doing its own investigation because it has strict policies regarding the environment.

Both charges are misdemeanors. A hearing is set for March 19.

TME Enterprises maintains the interstates in South Hampton Roads under a contract with the Virginia Department of Transportation.
