WAYNESBORO, Va. (AP) — A Waynesboro officer involved in a wreck that injured a 71-year-old woman has been charged with reckless driving.

Capt. Kelly Walker tells The News-Virginian (http://bit.ly/VFakxk ) that the police department also is conducting an internal review to determine whether the police department's policies were followed.

A police cruiser driven by Officer Shamica R. Spears hit a car on Jan. 18 as the officer was responding to a domestic assault involving an armed person.

The car's driver, Annette S. Powell of Crozet, was treated at a local hospital and released.

Walker says Spears remains on the job.
