TAZEWELL, Va. (AP) — Tazewell County's school system is now tobacco-free.

The school board has banned the use of tobacco products at all schools, along with school-related facilities and activities in the county.

The new policy includes Ernie Hicks Stadium in Richlands, Bulldog Stadium in Tazewell and Mitchell Stadium in Bluefield.

It applies not only to students and staff, but also school volunteers, contractors and others performing services on behalf of the school system when they're on duty and in the presence of students.

School Superintendent Brenda Lawson tells the Bluefield Daily Telegraph (http://bit.ly/ULLziy ) that the policy is effective immediately. She says it will be enforce around the clock.
