ABINGDON, Va. (AP) — A Kentucky man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for his role in the robbery of a Virginia bank.
Federal prosecutors say 49-year-old Ronald Green of Isom, Ky., was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Abingdon.
In addition to the prison time, Green must serve five years supervised release for his convictions for one count of bank robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count of brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.
According to evidence presented at hearings, Green robbed the Norton branch of New Peoples Bank on Dec. 9, 2011. He escaped the scene on a bicycle.
Green was arrested later that month with a large amount of money stolen from the bank.
