HOPEWELL, Va. (AP) — The owners of a defunct ethanol plant are negotiating with Hopewell officials over a delinquent tax bill totaling more than $1.5 million.
The Progress-Index (http://bit.ly/XBd3YB ) reports that City Council passed a resolution authorizing a settlement between Hopewell, Appomatox Bio Energy and Osage Bio Energy.
The resolution passed last week also authorizes the city manager to sign any document needed to move negotiations forward.
A settlement amount hasn't been determined.
Last October, the council voted to initiate a tax sale of the plant to recoup the back taxes.
