RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — The Virginia Farm Bureau Federation is going solo in its operation of the State Fair of Virginia.

The Farm Bureau said Friday it will assume full ownership of the Caroline County fair and The Meadow Event Park. It had partnered with Universal Fairs LLC of Cordova, Tenn., after the fair's previous owner went bankrupt under a mountain of debt.

The Farm Bureau's president, Wayne F. Pryor, described the parting with Universal Fairs as amicable.

The fair is scheduled from Sept. 27 through Oct. 6.
