CHESAPEAKE, Va. (AP) — A former police officer and auxiliary deputy in Portsmouth has been sentenced to two years in prison on charges of taking indecent liberties with a child.
George Vick was sentenced Monday in Chesapeake Circuit Court to five years on each of three charges. The judge suspended four years and four months on each charge.
The 63-year-old Vick entered an Alford plea last May. That means he did not admit guilt but agreed that evidence was strong enough to convict him.
The Virginian-Pilot (http://bit.ly/Yk4jG1) reports Vick spent 19 years as a police officer before working as an auxiliary deputy.
