WOODBRIDGE, Va. (AP) — An 8-year-old Prince William County boy who pointed his finger like a gun has had his school disciplinary records wiped clean.

The boy had been suspended from Minnieville Elementary School in Woodbridge for "threatening to harm self or others." That's an offense in the same category as bringing a real weapon to school.

The Washington Post (http://tinyurl.com/aqg353s ) reports that the school's principal wrote a letter to the boy's family that said the disciplinary removal would be referred from his school records.

The family and a lawyer representing them declined to provide a copy of the letter because they said it was critical and mentioned issues outside the incident.

The second-grader pointed his finger like a gun after another child pretended to shoot him with a bow and arrow.
