D3 Boys: Brunswick 56, Spotswood 31

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Brandan Stith and Isreal Stith scored 15 points each and Brunswick started fast and never let up, winning its third consecutive Virginia High School League Group AA, Division 3 state championship with a 56-31 victory against Spotswood on Saturday at the Siegel Center.

Isreal Stith made three 3-pointers on Brunswick's first six possessions, and Brandan Stith added seven rebounds and seven blocks.

The Bulldogs (28-2), who tied a state record by appearing in their seventh consecutive title game, shot 59.1 percent from the floor in the first half (13-of-22), closing the opening quarter on an 11-2 run to go ahead 19-7.

Spotswood cut the deficit to 32-22 with 3:44 left in the third quarter on a 3-pointer by Tucker McCoy, but the Blazers (28-2) got no closer.

McCoy led Spotswood with 11 points and Hyrum Weiler added nine.

Spotswood shot just 27.1 percent from the floor (13-of-48).
