ROCKY MOUNT, Va. (AP) — Accusations that a school nurse and an elementary school teacher tried to hire a hit man are headed to a grand jury.

According to media reports, the two Franklin County women appeared in court Thursday and waived a hearing, sending the case to grand jurors.

The teacher, 47-year-old Angela Nolen, and nurse Cathy Bennett were arrested last month and charged with trying to hire someone to kill Nolen's ex-husband, Paul Strickler. He's a retired Franklin County school administrator.

Nolen allegedly met with an undercover state police investigator who she thought was a hit man. Investigators say the target was Strickler and the price was $8,000 to get the job done.

The 37-year-old Bennett is accused of helping Nolen.

Both women have been suspended from their jobs.
