ABINGDON, Va. (AP) — Abington's colorful wolves are returning in 2014.
The popular "Who's Afraid of Virginia's Wolves" art project will line the streets with painted statues of wolves and wolf cubs.
Advance Abington is sponsoring the project. Executive director Susan Howard tells the Bristol Herald Courier (http://bit.ly/ZB8R9x ) that the organization hopes to get 40 statues.
There were 27 statues in 2009 and 38 in 2012.
Howard says artists and sponsors are being sought for the statues.
The statues will go on display in May 2014.
Abingdon was once named Wolf Hills by Daniel Boone. Howard says the statues promote and preserve that history.
