HALIFAX, Va. (WAVY) - An Amber Alert has been canceled after troopers say a small child was abducted following a court ruling Thursday.
Alexis Rose Carwile was last seen Thursday, Nov. 15 at 4:30 p.m. at 1076 Lower Liberty Rd. in Halifax, wearing an orange shirt, blue jean pants, black/white/pink tennis shoes and a pink jacket.
Carwille weighs 20 pounds and stands 2'6".
According to the Virginia State Police, the abductors, identified as Eric Eugene Black and Jennifer Dawn Carwile, were believed to be driving a taupe 1985 Nissan station wagon with VA plates XNJ9177, possibly headed for DC.
Chad Loftis, Deputy Coordinator of Emergency Services for Halifax County, told WAVY.com Black and the vehicle were pulled over around mile marker 41 along Interstate 95 South around 4:30 a.m. Friday. The Halifax County Sheriff's Office said a UPS driver spotted the vehicle on the interstate and called troopers. He then followed the vehicle until troopers were able to make a traffic stop.
Black is currently incarcerated at the Riverside Regional Jail in Hopewell.
Loftis said troopers had reason to believe Jennifer and Alexis Carwile are in the DC area because Black has family there. Alexis was believed to be in extreme danger.
Friday morning just before 7 a.m., Virginia State Police reported Alexis and Jennifer Carwile were located and the Amber Alert was canceled. The pair were located in Prince Georges County, Md. around 6:30 a.m. and Alexis is safe.
A court ruled Thursday Alexis was to be removed by social services. Loftis told WAVY.com Black and Jennifer Carwile removed the child from another woman’s house before social services could arrive.
Jennifer Carwile was described as white female with red hair, green eyes, standing 5'5" and weighing 170 pounds. Black was described as a black man with black hair and brown eyes, standing 5'7" and weighing 145 pounds.
