STERLING, Va. (AP) - The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office says a child abducted from California in 2006 has been found safe in Sterling.

Stephanie Cano, now 12, was found Monday with her mother, Maria Cano, in a home in Sterling after Los Angeles police received a tip though the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children website.

When Stephanie was 6, her father reported her missing from their Los Angeles home.

Deputies say 39-year-old Maria Cano is wanted in California for child concealment and multiple counts of grand theft. She is awaiting extradition to California.

Stephanie will be returned to her father.
