DENVER (AP) — Denver police say a hit-and-run accident Friday night killed two small children and critically injured a woman as the three crossed a street.

Police spokesman Sonny Jackson says a 5-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene and a 7-year-old died after being taken to Children's Hospital Colorado.

The Denver Post reported (http://bit.ly/10194l6) that police were continuing to investigate the hit-and-run near East 14th Avenue and Yosemite Street, an intersection west of the city's downtown area. It happened after sunset and just before 8 p.m.

The Post reports police were looking for the vehicle that fled the scene. Witness reports identified it as being a white SUV, possibly a Cadillac.
