Friends, family, students, and athletes paid tribute to one of the great sportsmen in the history of Hampton Roads as funeral services for Dick Price were held Monday at Rock Church in Virginia Beach.
Price, who had been battling cancer for some time, died February 23rd.
He was a former football coach, former track coach, and former athletic director at Norfolk State University.
As a coach he led the Spartans to two national track championships. As football coach he won three CIAA championships.
He was inducted into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame, the CIAA hall of fame, and the Hampton Roads All American Hall of Fame.
The Norfolk State football stadium was named after him in 1997.
Dick Price was 75 years old.
