BRISTOL, Va. (AP) - Rep. Rick Boucher says he voted against health care legislation because of concerns about a government insurance option and Medicare reimbursement disparities.

At a news conference Monday in Bristol, the Virginia Democrat said rural areas traditionally receive less money from Medicare reimbursements than urban areas. He says the bill makes some improvements but he would like to see more done.

Boucher said a government-run insurance plan could jeopardize hospitals in the region. He says many depend on revenue from private insurers because Medicaid and Medicare reimbursements aren't sufficient.

Boucher says health care reform is needed. He hopes to support the final bill that will be crafted from a House-Senate conference.
