For the past four years, Bill Bolling has served as the Lieutenant Governor of Virginia. Bill has worked with Governor Kaine and members of the General Assembly to find realistic and workable solutions to the challenges facing our state. Bill has developed an impressive record of bipartisan accomplishment in state government.
As Lieutenant Governor, Bill has fulfilled his constitutional responsibilities of serving as President of the Senate of Virginia with honor and distinction, winning praise from Republicans and Democrats alike.
In addition, Bill has pursued an aggressive legislative agenda, offering New Ideas For A Better Virginia that focus on the issues he cares most about –
* Getting our economy moving again and creating jobs
* Improving the quality of the educational opportunities we provide to our children
* Making a higher education more available and more affordable for the sons and daughters of Virginia
* Keeping our neighborhoods safe from the threat of crime
* Improving the quality of health care in Virginia
* Building a transportation system for the 21st century
* Protecting Virginia’s important natural resources
* Reforming government to make it work for the people of Virginia
Bill has also used the Lieutenant Governor’s office as a bully pulpit to call attention to a number of important health care initiatives, including:
* Cervical cancer - Ending Cervical Cancer In Our Lifetime
* Asthma awareness – Helping Virginians Breath Easier
* Cardiovascular health – The Lieutenant Governor’s Challenge: Your Heart Is In Your Hands
Bill’s re-election campaign is focused on getting Virginia’s economy moving again and creating the jobs Virginians need to restore their economic security. In 2007, Bill wrote legislation to recruit more small businesses to Virginia. That legislation has already resulted in the creation of more than 300 new jobs and over $120M in capital investment.
By providing tax incentives for businesses; reducing unnecessary regulations; making Virginia the nation’s leader in energy development; investing in important economic development programs, infrastructure enhancements and educational research; and protecting our state’s right to work law; Bill knows that we can position Virginia now for a future economic resurgence.
