PORTSMOUTH, Va. - It is Spring Break season. Just because you're on a budget doesn't mean it will be a bust. WAVY.com has some suggestions for ways to have fun, while being frugal.
There are some great deals here in Hampton Roads.
Enjoy the great outdoors:
Visit your nearest National Park for an inexpensive family vacation.
There are nearly 400 park sites, including First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach. Many parks offer overnight accomodations.
If you prefer daytripping:
Why not climb Mount Trashmore in Virginia Beach? Fly a kite or play on the hill for free.
In Norfolk, talk to the animals at the Virginia Zoo , tour the Norfolk Botanical Gardens or take in a Tides game at Harbor Park.
When the weather is nice, you could head to the beach.
Check out the Little Island Fishing Pier in Sandbridge-- it's free until Memorial Day!
And for those rainy days:
Seek shelter at the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, or take the kids to The Children's Museum of Virginia in Portsmouth.
Or satisfy your need for speed, with a trip to American Indoor Karting in Portsmouth.
