According to Capt. Jason Wank with the Carteret County Sheriff's Office, Abigale Lefevers was last seen by her father on the evening of Sept. 23. When her father awoke the next morning shortly after 6 a.m., he noticed Abigale was missing.
Wank says Abigale is believed to be in the company of 38-year-old Timothy Newman, a registered sex offender. Newman was also last seen on the evening of Sept. 23 and did not show up to work the next day. His roommate reported Newman was not at his home Monday morning.
Wank says Newman has had contact with Abigale in the past several weeks. According to North Carolina Crime Control, a red 1998 Chrysler Sebring with a North Carolina license plate of AKT6534 was last seen at 1:42 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24 near the South Carolina border.
Newman is described as a white man, standing 5'09", weighing 247 pounds with hazel eyes and brown hair.
Abigale is described as a white female, 5'04" tall and weighing 90 pounds. Abigale's father said she has a pink backpack with a peace sign on it with her.
