RODANTHE, N.C. (WAVY) - A structure in the Rodanthe area of Dare County damaged by Hurricane Sandy has collapsed into the ocean.
Dare County Emergency Management Director Sandy Sanderson told WAVY.com officials were notified of the collapse on Dean Avenue around 8 p.m. Sunday. The structure was condemned and had been that way for six months.
Sanderson added the structure was damaged during Hurricane Sandy.
According to Sanderson, the county cannot clean up the mess and send the owner the bill and the insurance company will have to get involved. Officials are hopeful the owner will come forward and clean up the structure.
No injuries were reported.
