Night gunfire at NC training center

STEDMAN, N.C. (AP) - A security contractor says its North Carolina gun ranges will light up with nighttime gunfire.

The Fayetteville Observer reports that TigerSwan Inc. will conduct training in night shooting Wednesday and Thursday at its facility in rural Cumberland County.

The company started by former Delta Force members to train police and troops says it will be training students to find targets and shoot weapons in the dark.

The state Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday that the training center doesn't qualify as a school, a designation local officials accepted in allowing construction. Local zoning rules protecting the land for farming allowed an exception for schools.

Neighboring property owners sued out of concern about stray bullets and gunfire depressing their property values.
