RALEIGH, N.C. (WAVY) - The North Carolina Department of Transportation has announced the awarding of two contracts totaling more than $1 million to repair roads damaged by Hurricane Sandy.
According to NCDOT, a $893,297 contract was awarded to RPC COntracting to reconstruct a dune in Kitty Hawk and repair the pavement on NC 12.
A $186,293 contract was awarded to Carolina Bridge Co. to repair Bonner Bridge's tension cables. Work for this project began Monday.
Once a safe route is in place from south of the Bonner Bridge to Rodanthe, four-wheel drive access will be provided in one lane to access Rodanthe and other communities to the south.
