NC ferry routes suspended

NORTH CAROLINA - Several runs at the Swan Quarter-Ocracoke and Cedar Island-Ocracoke routes will be suspended until at least June 29, while mechanics work to fix problems, the North Carolina Department of Transportation said.

The following runs have been suspended:

  • The 7 a.m. run from Ocracoke to Swan Quarter;
  • The 10 a.m. run from Swan Quarter to Ocracoke;
  • The 2 p.m. run from Ocracoke to Cedar Island; and
  • The 5 p.m. run from Cedar Island to Ocracoke

The following runs will continue as scheduled:

  • The 7:30 a.m. runs from both Ocracoke and Cedar Island;
  • The 10:30 a.m. runs from both Ocracoke and Cedar Island;
  • The 1 p.m. run from Ocracoke to Swan Quarter;
  • The 2 p.m. run from Cedar Island to Ocracoke;
  • The 5 p.m. run from Ocracoke to Cedar Island; and
  • The 5 p.m. run from Swan Quarter to Ocracoke.

A return to the normal year-round schedule will occur as soon as the MV Carteret is fixed and running safely. Travelers with reservations for any of these runs during this week should call the reservations center at 1-800-BY-FERRY to make alternative arrangements.
