DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Visitors are now restricted at all Duke University Health System hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers because of the flu.

The News & Observer of Raleigh reports  that restrictions went into place Wednesday afternoon. Only immediate family members or adult caregivers who have no fever, cough or other flu-like symptoms will be able to visit patients.

Officials say they're hoping the rules will help protect patients and prevent the flu from spreading. The restrictions will be reviewed as North Carolina's flu outbreak slows down.
