PERQUIMANS CO., N.C. (WAVY) - A man's body was discovered in a ditch in Perquimans County Tuesday.

The victim, identified as 27-year-old Chad Austin Colson, was found on Holiday Island Road near Pender Road just before noon. A passerby on a bike came upon the body and called police.

The body had multiple lacerations to the upper torso, according to Sheriff Eric Tiley.

The victim did not have any identification on him. Sheriff Tilley says they used a past arrest record in Perquimans Co. to identify Colson.

Foul play is suspected and the case is being treated as a homicide.

An autopsy is being performed to determine the cause of death.
