ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. (AP) - A Roanoke Rapids man has been arrested and accused of stealing nearly 50 samurai swords.
The Daily Herald of Roanoke Rapids reported reported that 20-year-old Anthony Logan Childers is charged with second degree burglary, obtaining property by false pretense, possession of stolen property, larceny after breaking and entering and damaging personal property.
.Capt. Andy Jackson says a resident had reported the theft of a collection of 48 samurai swords valued at more than $4,000 late last month. Jewelry and a digital camcorder also were taken.
Jackson says the thief had tried to sell the swords at several locations. Officers have recovered 11 of the swords.
It was not clear Wednesday if Childers has a lawyer.
