RALEIGH, N.C. (WAVY) - A Hertford man is being held on a $1.5 million bond after deputies in Perquimans County say a search of his home led to the discovery of 12 ounces of cocaine.
Walter Allen Norman, 29, is charged with trafficking cocaine and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
According to a release, Norman has been in prison four times for previous drug, firearm and breaking and entering convictions. The Sheriff's Office said Norman recently moved into a rural part of the county and neighbors began complaining about "alleged drug activity" at his home.
During the execution of a search warrant the block of cocaine was seized, as well as four firearms. The cocaine is valued at more than $18,000.
