CAPE HATTERAS, N.C. (WAVY) - The Coast Guard medevaced a 22-year-old German man from an oil tanker off Cape Hatteras on Thursday evening.

A Carolina Shipping agent for the vessel Seacod notified the Coast Guard that a man was suffering from potential symptoms of a stroke, according to a release from the Coast Guard.

A Coast Guard HH-60T Jayhawk rescue helicopter crew from Station Elizabeth City hoisted the man from the vessel and flew him to New Hanover Hospital in Wilmington.

The Seacod is a German flagged vessel measuring 616.7 feet in length.
