Body of missing boater recovered

CURRITUCK, N.C. - The body of boater who went missing in the Currituck Sound two days before Christmas was recovered Sunday afternoon.

The body of Ricky Ballance was recovered by Currituck County Sheriff's Deputies around 12:30 p.m. after some of Balance's relatives found his body in Coinjock Bay, according to Sheriff Susan Johnson.

Ballance went out for a 30 minute canoe trip in Coinjock Bay ton Dec. 23 and never returned home.
