WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — A Winston-Salem police officer has been charged with assault following a fight in a bar last month.

Twenty-three-year-old Michael Christopher Hodges Jr., of Winston-Salem resigned Sunday. He was charged in the investigation on Tuesday.

Hodges and 23-year-old Corey Grier Parker of Kernersville are charged with assault inflicting serious injury. Parker also is charged with simple assault.

Hodges had worked as a patrol officer for more than two years.

It was unclear if either man has an attorney.

Police say two men got into an argument in a bar with Hodges and Parker. All four men left the bar and the fight broke out in a parking lot. The other men were treated for facial injuries.
