RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — A Raleigh accountant is the newest member of the governing body for the University of North Carolina system.
The North Carolina House elected Jim Holmes to the UNC Board of Governors on Wednesday. He was the only candidate on the ballot to fill the vacancy created when board member Dr. Aldona Wos (vahsh) of Greensboro became Gov. Pat McCrory's health and human services secretary.
Holmes is managing partner of an insurance brokerage and consulting firm in Raleigh.
The board's 32 members are elected by the General Assembly — 16 by the House and 16 by the Senate.
