MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (AP) — Authorities say a wildfire in the Croatan National Forest that's burned more than 500 acres is 60 percent contained.

Fire managers expected to have the wildlife fully contained by Tuesday. They were alerted to the fire Sunday night.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The fire is located near N.C. Highway 24 and Nine Mile Road in the national forest.

Nearly 20 firefighters are working the blaze. No injuries or property damage have been reported.

Last year, a fire that started as a controlled burned for nearly a month in the forest. It burned more than 21,000 acres of the 160,000-acre forest.
