ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — A school for organic farmers is expected to attract about 2,000 people for its 20th anniversary.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reported (http://avlne.ws/VAWLim) the Organic Growers School will hold its annual event Saturday and Sunday on the campus of UNC-Asheville.

Its original focus was farmers, but the school attracts other people now. For its 20th anniversary, the conference has added workshops geared toward beginners or people with very little space to grow their own food.

Executive Director Meredith McKissick says organic has gone mainstream since the school started in 1993, especially in the Asheville area.
