TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Voters in Alexander County have rejected alcohol sales.
In four different approaches.
The Charlotte Observer reported ( http://bit.ly/YHYiPB ) that each of the four questions before the voters this week were rejected by a margin of about 53 percent to 47 percent.
More than 10,000 people cast ballots on the questions, which included sales of malt beverages, unfortified wines, ABC stores and mixed beverage sales.
A group called Citizens for the Future of Alexander County convinced county commissioners in November to put the questions on the ballot.
Another group, Alexander Citizens for Faith and Family Values, opposed the alcohol sales.
