NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Charges were dropped Thursday against an Old Dominion University student accused of multiple felony sex charges, involving alleged date rape drugs.
The prosecution dropped charges against Jack Ly during a preliminary hearing in Norfolk General Court.
Ly was facing two charges each of rape, sodomy, abduction, conspiracy to commit sodomy and conspiracy to commit abduction.
"Justice prevailed," Ly said Thursday. "I feel good."
Reid Evans and Markell Wilkins, former ODU football players, also had preliminary hearings in this case Thursday.
Evans will face two counts of rape by grand jury and Wilkins will face two counts of conspiracy to commit rape charges by grand jury.
Thursday, abduction and sodomy charges were withdrawn or dismissed against Evans.
Prosecutors said a video shows multiple men entering the campus dorm room where the female victims say the alleged incident occurred on June 17. According to ODU spokeswoman Jennifer Mullen Collins, the victims did not go to ODU.
Wilkins' attorney, George Neskins, says his client did have sex with one woman, but says it was consensual.
ODU suspended Evans and Wilkins from the football team indefinitely. ODU Football Head Coach Bobby Wilder said he did this in the best interest of the football program.
